Why "Remote Downlevel Document"(s) Appear in Print Queue

Solution

Why I get Remote Downlevel Document as the document name. How do I fix it?

The "Remote Downlevel Document" is the default document name when the program or computer does not provide a real document name. Print Logger detects any document name provided by the your operating system. This name yoy can see in the Windows print queue and in Print Logger reports.

Some reasons for receiving "Remote Downlevel Document" are:

    * The print jobs has printed from an old MS DOS application.
    * Apple Mac systems printing to Windows print queues will often display this name. This is because of a limitation in the CUPS smb implementation.
    * Client computers that have had their computers added using a non standard printer mapping way such as:
          - using the NET USE LPT command (remapping the LPT port to a network print queue);
          - using local printer mapping to a new port ( \\ServerName\ShareName);

The recommended way to map the printer is as a Network Printer pointing to the queue with the server name and printer name:  \\ServerName\PrinterName.
